The annual Festival of the Cranes (sponsored by the City of
Socorro and the
Bosque
del Apache NWR) celebrates the return of thousands of cranes.
Education is an important part of the mission of the Bosque del
Apache National Wildlife Refuge. Throughout the year the Bosque is
host to meetings, seminars, international film crews, tours, and
visits by groups of school children.
There are four major components to the Festival: tours, lectures,
exhibits and enjoying the Refuge. We invite you to share it with us.
Socorro is in the exact center if the state of New Mexico.
A two-day festival at Lake Roberts: banding, educational
presentations, crafts, artists and more, all celebrating the
hummingbird! Guided bird and geology walks. Learn more about
hummingbirds as ornithologists band and study them. Call in advance
for information and exact location. Sponsored by Hummingbirds of New
Mexico.
